Edbert D. Lu

Eddie grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. At UC Berkeley, he was inspired by his science mentors at The Klinman Group, where he studied soybean lipoxygenase-1 as an enzyme model for C-H bond activation and protein global/local interactions. He graduated in 2017 with a B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology (Immunology). His love for science led him to spending the next three years engaging in research in the lab of Dr. William A. Weiss at the University of California, San Francisco, to investigate the tumor micro-environment of neural tumors with the purpose of identifying potential immunotherapy drug targets.

He is a current medical student at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Throughout his journey to becoming a physician scientist, he hopes to continue addressing the specific needs of K-12 classrooms in the New Brunswick area with Project SCIFI.
