Kaustav Chattopadhyay

Kaustav was born in Calcutta, India, but moved to Los Angeles, CA when he was a year old. Growing up in Southern California, he found a love for science and mathematics, that was nurtured by his STEM teachers. Through his STEM classes, he realized how important a strong support system and access to resources are for students that are engaged in a learning environment. In high school, he volunteered at multiple middle and elementary schools to provide after-school tutoring in STEM courses. At the University of California, Berkeley, Kaustav joined Project SCIFI as a freshman. After graduating with a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology: Neurobiology, Kaustav went on to pursue his M.D. at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Through his experiences and working with Project SCIFI, Kaustav’s interests lie in community engagement, educational awareness, global health, and serving those in underserved and underrepresented communities.
