Tess Alwan
President, Berkeley Chapter
Tess grew up in San Diego, and is currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley studying Genetics with an interest in medicine, obstetrics, and women’s health. While interning at a startup biotechnology company during high school, she realized the lack of hands-on science opportunities that existed in educational system. This spurred her to begin her own club as a junior called “The Young Scientist,” in which she visited schools within her areas to provide younger students science demonstrations and spark interest in STEM. She is happy to be continuing this work through Project SCIFI. In her free time, Tess likes to write, play piano, and surf when she is back home in Southern California.
Tess leads Project SCIFI’s Berkeley Chapter as President.
